Japan is starting the world-first LNG futures within 2 years
The country is the world’s largest LNG importer. Those behind the push for the contract, which includes utility companies, trading houses and government officials, will aim to list the dollar-denominated futures on the Tokyo Commodity Exchange by March 2015…the listing…would help set up a global market for the increasingly popular commodity.

InterOil & Exxon discuss PNG assets
Exxon Mobil Corp is in exclusive talks with InterOil Corp to invest in the latter’s natural gas assets in Papua New Guinea, a move that could cement the … country’s position as a new significant energy exporter… InterOil said it is discussing whether gas from its Elk and Antelope fields would support an expansion of the PNG LNG project or a new gas-export facility…Unlike rival LNG suppliers in the Middle East, shipments to Asia from Papua New Guinea won’t pass through the Malacca Strait choke point near Singapore, increasing its appeal to investors. Shipping costs are also lower.

A major milestone in Tamar’s floating LNG project development
A cost sharing agreement (CSA) has been executed between Levant LNG Marketing, a subsidiary of Pangea LNG BV and Tamar Partners. This major milestone demonstrates the continuing progress toward the export of LNG from the Tarmar and Dalit fields in the Eastern Mediterranean, Israel.

Honeywell and Petronas, collaborating with technological innovations for Floating LNG
Honeywell subsidiary UOP will share some of its gas purification secrets with Malaysian state-owned major Petronas as the two companies collaborate to streamline floating LNG processing technology and produce the next generation of FLNG equipment to remove contaminants from gas before it is liquefied – an important factor for FLNG. The technology will be used for Petronas’ first FLNG project, to be moored at the Kanowit gas field in Sarawak with the aim for a late 2015 start-up.

EXMAR launches FLRSU to exploit stranded gas offshore Colombia
Exmar NV plans to invest $300 million on the first-ever floating liquefacation, re-gasification and storage unit (FLSRU) in an effort to develop stranded gas worldwide…We are the first one to do re-gasification onboard a ship and the first one to do ship-to-ship transfer of LNG. This small-scale project is set to correct the imbalance in LNG trade both in price and supply. The underlying risk sharing pact and technological collaboration is between 3 parties Launched on 1 June 2013, the project is being built in Nantong, China.
