Workshop B: 23 Oct 12:30-14:00
12:30 PM Project Financing for Small-Mid Scale FLNG Projects

Donghyun Ryu , Vice President, Project Finance, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation

Project finance for small to mid scale FLNG projects remains one of the biggest challenges for project owners and consortia. A lack of proven results in this novel technology still stands as the biggest risk. However, with the market moving towards small-mid scale projects as a viable option to monetise stranded gas fields, stakeholders and financiers need to understand the financing options available and a solution to minimise risk.

This workshop is designed to provide participants with a clear understanding of the financial and contractual risks involved in FLNG projects, and will touch on the key criterion that project owners must provide to financiers in order to facilitate project financing options.

In this workshop, you will understand:

  • Analyse the FLNG market and appetite for small-mid scale FLNG projects
  • Is project financing feasible for small-mid scale independents?
  • Challenges in attracting strong sponsors and early offtakers
  • Assessing alternate models for project financing in small-mid scale FLNG projects
